Our deepest apologies, but due to unforeseen circumstances. this event has been canceled. Stay posted for other events throughout 2020!
You're at the end of the year and the end of your energy. You're exhausted yet hopeful (or want to be hopeful) for what's next. You're whispering "woohoo" from your couch, barely pushing the invisible pom poms in the air. 2019 has pushed you to the limit but you want to celebrate all that you've overcome and what's ahead in 2020.
You're finding you need to slow down, pause, be reflective in order to see a little clearer what's ahead and to put the past in proper perspective. Your body is telling you to take it easy. Your doctor has told you to find a way to reclaim your body and your life. You know something has to change. You've looked outside into the world for answers and still come up empty. You don't want a long drawn out class or process that will add to your to-do list. You want space to listen and to flow with your own rhythm. You know it's time to do something different. It's time to go within. But how?

Welcome to your “Write, Reflect, Refuel, Reset”
New Year’s 2020 Online Retreat
New Year’s 2020 Online Retreat
"Write, Reflect, Refuel, Reset" is created with carefully chosen poems and short readings that help you slow down, be still, and reflect so that you're in a better emotional and mental space to clearly see what you want for your life and those around you. Using coaching techniques as well, this retreat allows you the time and support to dig within to find your own needs and light. In our face-paced world, sometimes what you need most is to give yourself permission to nurture yourself and your voice.
If you’ve been running around 2019, exhausted, unclear about what’s next, in need of a different perspective, this retreat if for you.. As you enter into a new decade there is much to celebrate and to be grateful for. "Write, Reflect, Refuel, Reset" gives you that time and support for you to pause to do just that – acknowledge the lessons and blessings. As a result, you will walk away with greater clarity around what is next, what you desire, where you want to be, and how to get there.

How it works
Each week, a new set of poems or writings and prompts, along with a brief video from me -- your retreat guide, poet & editor-in-chief of Snapdragon: A Journal of Art & Healing, Jacinta V. White -- will be emailed to you.
You will be guided in weekly writing exercises while also having the freedom to work at your own pace. There is no set time to meet though new material will be available to same time each week. For those of you who want to share your body of writing that comes from this retreat, there is an option to sign up for additional work with me to provide feedback and critique.
Because this is online and at your own pace, there is the likelihood that less structure will mean some will fall off. Therefore, I strongly urge and recommend that you place time (3-4 hours) on your calendar each week for this deep dive and creative work. No one will be there to ask you how it’s going or for you to turn in an assignment. Still, you’re making an investment in yourself. Guard your time, stay focused, see results. Depending on the number of participants and interest, we will create a private Facebook group for you to share and discuss what's happening for you in the retreat.

Who is "Write, Reflect, Refuel, Reset" for?
If you are a professional, entrepreneur, leader, stay-at-home parent, college student, busy retiree – someone who is looking to slow down in this busy world to reflect and reset, then this online retreat is for you. This isn’t designed for poets, writers, or creatives, though if you fall it that category, you will find this beneficial, too. It’s designed for everyday people – those who don’t necessarily love poetry and those who do. It’s for people I work with every day as a corporate trainer and retreat facilitator--those who sometimes get loss in all the world's chatter and to-do lists.. It’s for the tired yet hopeful, the powerful and honest, the brave and compassionate -- the ones who know there is a better way to live than in a ball of fury but haven’t taken the time or had the support to find the path within.
"I have been a devoted attendee of Jacinta’s poetry workshops for the last few years. I’ve found Jacinta’s workshops to be healing and restorative, a meaningful way to reconnect with myself and my writing. Jacinta’s warm spirit and grounding presence provide comfort and a safe space for creating. I return again and again because her workshops make my heart happy. "

I've been there -- wondering if I should or shouldn't sign up for something. Wondering if it will be worth it and if I have the time and/or money. So let me encourage you if you want to nurture your inner self, knowing that's how your outer life responds to:
- Allow yourself this time you know you need and deserve!
- Invest in yourself -- your creative outlet your soul is seeking, knowing others will also benefit from your clarity and joy!
- Sign up for this limited seated month-long retreat!
Your investment
You will be investing your time and energy back into yourself -- your desires, goals, dreams, thoughts, ideas -- at this pivotal time of the year. How much time is up to you, but I suggest at least 3-4 hours a week to absorb the readings, prompts, and your inner wisdom.
You will also be investing your money where it matters the most -- yourself.. At less than $5 a day -- that's the amount you might spend on a latte or a cocktail during happy hour (or you can say, less than $40 a week) -- you're saying yes to your creative, generative, restorative time. How are you not worth that? And for those who want a little more, you have the option of signing up for the retreat + feedback (see details below).

* "Feedback from Jacinta"
Often, when leading a retreat or workshop, particularly online, I'm asked if I will provide critique or feedback from an editor's/craft point of view. I would like to offer this to the retreat for those who want the additional support. The cost listed above for "feedback with Jacinta" is for a collection of poems of no more than 10, inspired by the retreat (not what was written last year), and sent at the end of the retreat, This service is optional so feel free to just sign up for the retreat if you're not looking for specific feedback from me but will rather use your writings as a guide for yourself.
What's next
Once you register, you will receive a welcome email with more information and suggestions, such as going ahead and carving time in your calendar for the retreat, inexpensive items you might want to gather or purchase, etc. We will also send you instructions mid-December, after registration is completed, with all the information you need to know to get you started on your journey Jan. 1! |
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild & precious life?" - Mary Oliver |
I believe that poetry heals. When I say that, what I’m saying is that poetry is a catalyst for your own discovery. Poetry has a way of getting underneath us – when we read it and write it – to help us see what we otherwise couldn’t. Poetry provides clarity and an avenue for powerful and transformative expression. The use of images, metaphors, rhythm helps us paint a picture of what we envision. It releases us yet holds us closely.
Why not, at the beginning of the year, if no other time, use poetry as your guide to self-discovery and expression? If taken seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if you say to me after one of the exercises, "I didn't know I felt that way." Or, "I didn't realize I still wanted that." So much of ourselves we stuff underneath and end up walking around in half-lived lives. You want more, I know. Let this retreat help you discover and welcome what is yours. - Jacinta
