“We meditate over literature; we play our music; we change our minds; we reach understandings. Society evolves this way, not by shooting each other down, but by the unique capacity of unique, individual souls to comprehend each other.” - Lewis Thomas, Author |

how it began |

in the beginning was the word…
the WORD project (TWP) is designed to engage persons to tap into their creative spirit and find their authentic self. Whether it’s a business leadership retreat or a an after-school program for youth, TWP encourages participants to speak their personal truth through creative writing in a non-intimidating atmosphere. In 2001, TWP was founded in Atlanta, GA, to serve as an avenue to inspire and create room for young people to express their concerns and desires. From there, the WORD project has grown to include persons of all ages and areas of life who are struggling to find ways to process grief, illness and other life traumas. At TWP we believe everyone has a story and that this story has a voice. Through poetry, the voice can be heard—that’s when relationships are built and meaningful healing begins.
